Synopsis

John Stewart’s time as a Green Lantern has come to an end…or so he thinks. A family tragedy calls him back home, and as John begins to reclaim the career he once left behind, he tries to embrace a peaceful post-superhero life. But when a terrifying and contagious force with a mysterious connection to Oa appears on Earth, the last Green Lantern of another Universe comes seeking the only warrior to face this threat and win: the immortal “Guardian and Builder,” John Stewart himself! Can this brilliant but brash young Lantern help John discover the qualities that made him one of the greatest Lanterns of the entire Multiverse? Featuring the first appearance of an iconic and terrifying new villain!

Plot

International Space Station- Astronaut Jane is on a spacewalk when she is hit by a strange light and chaos breaks out on the space station. Fires and system failures bombard the crew but Jane does not hear the screams for help from her friends and co-workers, because she is mesmerized by a growing ring that appears in front of her. The last thing she sees is the twisted face of the yet unknown Revenant Queen.

Earth- John Stewart is getting accustomed to regular life outside the Green Lantern Corp. He has moved in with his mother, Shirley, so that he can be close to his mother who is in the later stages of dementia. One day John hears a noise outside and when he investigates he is attacked by Varron, a member of the United Planet Corp.

The Green Lantern demands John give him his ring, which John denies having, but when Varron threaten his mother, John Stewart creates constructs without a ring and beats Varron to a pulp. He then sends the beaten "Fake Green Lantern" back into space with a warning to leave John and his family alone.

John then goes back inside where his mom askes for Ellie. John is about to remind her that Ellie has been dead for years, but instead uses his power to create an Ellie construct to make his mother happy.

Back on the Space Station- Caolan Sheperd find the station destroyed, the crew turned into Radiant Dead and worst of all a piece of the station is missing and assumed on Earth. Caolan knows the only way to stop the Radiant Dead is to kill their queen and the best way to find their queen is to find her target, John Stewart

• The Synopsis says this the first appearance of the Revenant Queen but she has appeared before in Action Comic #1041
